Just around the corner, YMI Dancing (Young Movement Incorporated Dancing) presents essence, April 12th through 15th in Toronto. This special twentieth anniversary event offers an evening of new work by Julia Aplin, Kate Franklin, Bethany Litner and Larissa Taurins, as well as company repertoire by Artistic Director Pia Bouman, including I Under Sun (1998) and I.Q. (or What Do You Know) (1999).This youth dance company has a home in Pia Bouman School for Ballet and Creative Movement, located in the Parkdale neighbourhood of Toronto, where they present their annual productions in the Scotiabank Studio Theatre. This year’s company includes Maddie Andrew-Gee, Leya De Nil, Emily Hall, Hannah Kim, Genevieve L’Abbé, Effie MacMurchy, Genevieve Madill, Nicola Madonia, Roxy O’Rourke, Mara Jezernik, and Kiva Smith, as well as apprentices, Anneka Bentley-Jin, Jane Ernzst, Harmony Jagla and Carolina Luiz-Pereira.
