TRACES go pro - Les 7 doigts de la main

Flips, spins and balancing acts are just the surface of these clips from the multi-award winning show Traces by Montréal-based circus collective Les 7 doigts de la main. Performers gracefully weave acrobatics with contemporary dance while bringing in street elements such as basketball and skateboarding.

The set is a makeshift shelter with an unknown catastrophe waiting outside the doors made of tarp and gaffer tape. In the face of impending disaster, the performers in the work have determined that creation is the only antidote to destruction. Choreographed by Gypsy Snider and Shana Carroll, Traces is performed by seven artists: Kevin Beverley, Lucas Boutin, Anne-Marie Godin, Kai Johnson-Peady, Yann Leblanc, Harley McLeish and Enmeng Song.

Traces has been presented in 200 cities around the world and will be making its way back to Canada in December 2015 to be performed in Toronto.

Les 7 doigts de la main were the recipients of the 2014 Artistes pour la Paix award, a yearly award that pays tribute to artists who tackle the broad and ambitious goal of building peace in their audience’s minds and hearts – as exemplified in Traces.
