Bboy Science: Tony Ingram Practice

The January/February 2013 issue of The Dance Current print magazine includes an item featuring Tony Ingram.”Tony Ingram is on a crusade: he wants people to understand the science of how they move. With a BSc in Neuroscience (Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), an MSc in Physiotherapy (Dalhousie), and hard at work on a second MSc (MUN), this time in Exercise Physiology, Ingram certainly has the intellectual chops for the job.” By Munju Monique Ravindra, The Dance Current: Print, January/February 2013.A physical therapist and dancer, Ingram is currently living in St. John’s. He is also the director of Street Movement Dance Company and the primary author of his website Bboy Science. In his most recent article on ankle sprains, he notes a German sports study that considers “the entire body, and not just the ankle joint, in preparatory adjustments and landing response.” Like the researchers, Ingram advocates the importance of coordination (not just strength and flexibility) when it comes to injury prevention.
