Soldiers Joy - Dance - "Stepping in Tyme" Group at Pickering Museum Village, Pickering, Ontario

This video features the dance group Stepping in Tyme, Pickering Museum Village’s volunteer heritage dance society in Ontario. The group meets every other Tuesday all year round in order to learn and practice various nineteenth-century social dances such as English Country Dance, Contra Dance, Quadrilles, Old-fashioned couples Ballroom Waltzes and Polkas, Galops and more. Some of the group’s members also perform during the museum’s seasonal events as well as at off-site locations, such as Pickering Heritage Day. This rehearsal demonstrates the dance Soldier’s Joy with dancers Bea, Donna, Flo, Julie, Janina, Anne, Marion and Shirley. According to their website, it is the group’s “sincere hope that this facet of Pickering Museum Village will throw greater light on the lives of Canada’s early settlers, and that visitors may leave with a broader and clearer understanding of Pickering and Canada’s past.”
