Many a Nutcracker is at a theatre near you! The State Ballet Theatre of Russia (the touring name of Voronezh State Theatre of Opera and Ballet) is currently in Ontario presenting Vasili Vainonen’s interpretation of this holiday classic to Tchaikovsky’s score. Their tour includes Mississauga (December 3-4), Brampton (December 7-8) and Burlington (December 13-14).Gaining international renown in Europe, India and Africa, the company has been touring North America since 2006. Their productions of traditional Russian classics and modern Russian composers also include Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Giselle, Don Quixote and many more. The company is led by Igor Nepomnyashchy and Lyudmila Sycheva, and includes many distinguished Russian artists, including one People’s Artist, three Honoured Artists of Russia and four winners at major international competitions.
