The Dec/Jan 09/10 issue of The Dance Current print magazine, features an article on social dancing by Kristin Harris Walsh, highlighting the various practices and reasons we Canadians are drawn to these fun community activities.With New Year’s resolutions to get back on the dance floor (or avoid it after that last office party), here’s some interesting psychology studies for us to ponder. Last month, CBC Radio spoke with Dr. Peter Lovatt of the University of Hertfordshire. In a broad stroke, his research looks at the relationship between dance ability/style and hormones. The video shows a study relating women’s dance styles to their levels of testosterone and fertility - and the ability of their dancing to attract men.
