Gravity of Center (short film trailer) - RUBBERBANDance

Rubberbandance Group recently realeased this preview of its short film adaptation of Gravity of Center, directed by Thibaut Duverneix. Premiered in 2011 as a full-length stage work, Gravity of Center uses the company’s trademark fluid and melodic hip hop style to follow five dancers as they explore the dynamics between independence and interdependence. The company’s website notes that, “Each being is both at the centre of the world and orbiting around others. Interdependence is obvious and struggles are inevitable.” The YouTube notes invite viewers to, “Follow this pack across remote landscapes as the need for individualism is suffocated by their dependence on the group.” A full version of the short film will be available following festival presentations. Be sure to check out the April 2008 issue of The Dance Current print magazine for an article on Rubberbandance Group.
