Roxana: Dance Film by Moze Mossanen

Bravo!FACT recently released excerpts of the 2007 dance film Roxana, written and directed by Moze Mossanen. The work is touted as a film adaptation of Daniel Defoe’s 17th century novel about a modern day courtesan. The film’s description notes: “Transposed into a 20th century setting, this sumptuous production stylishly integrates music, dance and drama to highlight the complex relationship between material ambition and sexuality.” Choreographed by Roberto Campanella, the film stars Greta Hodgkinson, Rex Harrington, Christopher Body, Sheila McCarthy and Ted Banfalvi.The film received several honours, including two awards at the Yorkton Film Festival, a Canadian Cinematography Award and two Gemini Awards, as well as nominations for Best Writing and Best Program for Mossanen.
