Vesna Festival 2011. Pavlychenko Folklorique Ensemble

Canada’s longest running Ukrainian festival, Vesna, took place May 13th and 14th in Saskatoon, featuring the culture’s art, food, clothing, music and dance. Among the performers was the local Pavlychenko Folklorique Ensemble, which has toured across Canada and in the United States, Ukraine and Brazil. The group was established by Lusia Pavlychenko, and continues today under the direction of Serhij Koroliuk. Its repertoire reflects Ukrainian traditions and culture (including dances from Central Ukraine, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Bukovyna, Hutsulia, Polissia and Podillia) while infusing a taste of its diasporic Canadian experience. This past Sunday the group held auditions and continues to renew its bright young talent.
