Northbuck: Canada's Leading Krump Group

By Julye Huggins
ET a.k.a. EAST TERROR @ THE NORTHBUCK KRUMP SESSION (excluive teaser)

During Harbourfront’s Island Soul festival this week in Toronto (July 29th through August 1st), Canada’s top krumping group Northbuck will be hitting the stage with Toronto’s jerkin’ group Happy Feet. Together, their interactive performance will expose the roots of urban dance.Northbuck’s Facebook page describes krump as “an aggressive style of dance meant for self expression and is used as an outlet for possitive and negative energy.” The style is said to have originated in Los Angeles in the year 2000, developed by youths in an attempt to escape the harsh realities of gangs and drugs in their neighbourhoods. Northbuck continues to reflect these roots by promoting a violence-free community and empowering youth physically and mentally, providing them with “a solid foundation of essential tools to succeed in life such as discipline, work ethic, team work and positive thinking.”Northbuck also recently appeared at the Unity Charity kick off event in Toronto earlier this month. Check out the video below to see more of their crew busting out.
