Mi Young Kim: 60 Years of Rhythm and Movement

On Tuesday November 15th Korean–Canadian cultural pioneer Mi Young Kim celebrates a big anniversary as a professional dancer with 60 Years of Rhythm and Movement. According to the website of the Korean Dance Studies Society of Canada, the company is staging an elaborate production “to highlight Kim’s career and to showcase a range of traditional and contemporary Korean dance.” Both repertoire gems and and new creations will appear in the programme, as well as works from guest artists with whom Kim has recently collaborated. These artists include Sampradaya Dance Creation, York Dance Ensemble, Keiko Kitano, Kozakura Sensui and Samulnori Canada - contributing their specialization in dance forms such as traditional Japanese, classical Indian and contemporary.For more on Mi Young Kim, be sure to check out the November 2001 edition of The Dance Current print magazine.
