Method of Loci was shot under the Toronto Gardiner Expressway during a summer residency program hosted by Dancemakers Centre for Creation in Toronto last summer. Directed by Ray Demski and Audrey Bergeron, the short features Michael Demski, Jasmine Ellis, Merryn Kritzinger, Daniel McArthur and Brodie Stevenson. Under Bad Posture Productions, a small production company dedicated to making contemporary dance films, Ellis and Stevenson as producers have successfully circulated the short to international screenings. In August, Method of Loci will screen at Festival Internacional de Vídeo & Dança in Rio de Janeiro.

Reflecting on the process of choreographing with a mood in mind, filming and then finding a specific colour to match, dancer and choreographer Ming-Bo Lam told The Dance Current, “We would shift shades just slightly to see how closely we could pair a visual with the emotional experience.”
