Mama Dances with Eryn Dace Trudell - baby dance classes montreal

Dance artist and mother, Eryn Dace Trudell is set to launch a new batch of fall dance classes in Montréal for parents, guardians and babies. Mama Dances (ideal for babies ages two to ten months old) will be running sessions starting September 24th in Côte-des-Neiges, October 1st in Mile End, October 3rd at Plateau Mont-Royal and October 4th at Plaza St-Hubert/Jean Talon. Parents with infants aged one to three years are welcome to try sessions in Outremont beginning September 20th, and Plateau Mont-Royal beginning September 29th. Previous dance experience is not required.According to their website, the concept of Mama Dances “was born out of necessity to negotiate around or incorporate a child into an artistic practice.” A dance project blossomed, featuring six dancers and their babies performing during Festival Transatlantique in 2006: Eryn Dace Trudell, A-Shôvàne Brisinbi, Caroline Sirois, Nancy Rivest, Aurélie Pedron and Monica Gan. Their practice soon evolved into a series of classes and workshops for dancers and the public, motivating parents and guardians to connect with their children through exercise and to engage them in creative quality time. Further objectives stated on their website include the following:1. Inspire parents to dance with their children2. Incite wholistic ways of being physical with our children3. Prevent post natal depression and isolation4. Affect healthy collective consciousness5. Rekindle the ability for physical play6. Strengthen mind and body connection7. Relieve stress and motivate energy8. Develop bonds between families and their environmentBe sure to check out the Summer 2005 issue of The Dance Current print magazine for an item on Eryn Dace Trudell.
