Danse Danse 12-13: La Otra Orilla - HomoBLABLAtus - ENG

A Danse Danse presentation, the full-length premiere of Homoblablatus by La Otra Orilla is hitting La Place des Arts, January 16th through 26th. Excerpts of the work-in-progress have been seen at the Vancouver Flamenco Festival (September 21), OFF-Cinars (November 13-14) and Parcours Danse (December 4). The completed work will then tour to Sherbrooke (February 5) and Toronto (February 15-16).Flamenco dancer and choreographer Myriam Allard takes to the stage with singer Hedi Graja and musicians Aurélie Brunelle and Miguel Medina. The show also promises a special “virtual duo” in collaboration with Spanish flamenco dancer Antonio Arrebola. In pursuing a multidisciplinary approach to flamenco, the work stirs the dramatic and sensual characteristics of the form with humour and absurdity. Exploring expression on the outskirts of traditional form, the piece delves into notions of abundance and scarcity, silence and suspension. It is a work that questions the weight of our words and actions. Be sure to check out the January/February 2012 issue of The Dance Current print magazine for an item on La Otra Orilla.
