La La La Human Steps perform New Work

Édouard Lock’s new choreography for La La La Human Steps is making its way around Canada after a successful European tour. According to the company’s website the piece, simply titled New Work, deconstructs two tragic love stories inspired by two Baroque operas: Purcell’s Dido and Aenaes and Gluck’s Orpheus and Eurydice. Diana Vishneva, principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre and former principal with the Marinksy Theatre Ballet, guest stars in this work that marks the Montréal-based company’s 30th anniversary.New Work premiered in Amsterdam in January and will continue its worldwide tour until the end of 2012. Next up the company performs in Toronto at St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts May 26th through June 1st.
