The September/October 2012 issue of The Dance Current print magazine includes an item featuring a conversation between Julia Sasso and Eve Egoyan.”When I watch you perform I do see you as a dancer. Your way of interacting with the piano and the music that you’re playing is so fully embodied from the tips of your toes to the top of your head. I see you as being transformed by what you are engaged in at the piano.” Quoting Julia Sasso, The Dance Current: Print, September/October 2012.The upcoming production of SLoE at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto, September 27th through 30th, highlights the piano masterpiece Simple Lines of Enquiry by late Canadian composer Ann Southam. The performance features choreography by Sasso, who was commissioned to embody the work of Southam while the music was being written, and a live music concert by Egoyan, the celebrated pianist for whom the music was written. The cast includes Angela Blumberg, Irvin Chow, Jesse Dell, Vanessa Goodman, Susan Lee and Deanna Peters. As described by the company, the work is said to resonate with “the feminine perspective in dance, music and design” enveloping the audience “in an eloquent, intimate and deeply compelling experience of sound, visual and movement imagery.”
