Allemande - Josh Solo Excerpt

Capping off a short tour of four North American cities, MOVE: the company is currently in Toronto (April 17-19) following stops in New York City (March 17-20), Kamloops (March 29) and Osoyoos (April 2). The program features works by Artistic Director Josh Beamish and guest choreographers Matjash Mrozewski (Secret Self), Simone Orlando (Studies of Cash) and Lara Barclay (Caught Excerpt).Headlining the program is Beamish’s Canadian premiere of Allemande, a work largely consisting of duets and solos by six dancers. Following Beamish’s signature style, the movement appears to deconstruct Bach’s cello suites with resonances of Baroque era dances. According to the company’s website, this contemporary approach is a “preservation of a technical aesthetic juxtaposed against complex series of isolations performed at hyper-speed.”
