Jack Your Body at Next Stage Festival 2014

JACK YOUR BODY

Jack Your Body by Mix Mix Dance Collective is a dynamic and fast-paced street dance performance that pays homage to American street dance culture from a very current and Canadian perspective. The high energy dance piece, originally shown at last summer’s Fringe Festival in Toronto, features posing, strutting, voguing, waacking and choreographic nods to hip hop, house, Paradise Garage, Soul Train … and more. Appearing all this week at Next Stage Festival 2014, Jack Your Body includes two members from ILL NANA/DiverseCity Dance Company (Keith Cole wrote about taking class with them in Transforming the Dominant Script of Dance in the January/February 2014 issue of The Dance Current) and choreographer Emily Law (who argued waacking versus voguing with Mother Trouble Nuance in the same issue)

Other dance at this winter’s Next Stage Festival – the musical Killer Business
