Guelph Dance Festival, in a Nutshell

Rhonda Baker performs Nutshell, a contemporary solo choreographed by Toronto-based artist Sharon Moore, in this teaser. Baker’s emotional depth and technical prowess are evident in this piece, telling the story of a woman who is unraveling. The Halifax-based artist has been nominated for a Dora (Toronto’s performing arts awards) and is a company member with Mocean Dance.

Nutshell will be presented on June 5 at 8pm in the Cooperators Hall of River Run Centre and is one of several works presented at this year’s fifteenth annual Guelph Dance Festival (formerly the Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival), running June 5-7. The festival presents a range of contemporary work from across Canada: other highlights include Florilège presented by Margie Gillis Dance Foundation from Québec; the premiere of Brain Piece presented by Jody Oberfelder Projects from New York; and Bright Lights, Cold Water (Watching Netflix at 3am Questioning Your Mortality) presented by Toy Guns Dance Theatre from Alberta.
