From Riley, For Morgan

'For Morgan' Excerpts

In October of last fall, dancer/choreographer Riley Sims was commissioned to create a new work for visual artist Melody-Blue Klassen’s installation R.I.P Morgan Freeman. Sims was charged with creating a piece inspired by the ongoing and viral internet hoaxes announcing actor Morgan Freeman’s supposed death. Titled For Morgan, Sims’ interactive work with interpreters Charles-Alexis Desgagnes, Austin Fagan, Lee Gelbloom, Ana Groppler and Jolyane Langlois is seen in excerpts in this video.

To learn more about this up-and-coming Toronto choreographer pick up the March/April 2014 issue – Sims is featured in Making Waves and on the cover! To see him in action, check out Dancemakers’ show Around this week, where Sims is currently part of the company’s Emerging Dance Artist Project.
