Montréal’s Tangente presents the work of two contemporary choreographers in its IDENTIT(I)ÉS programming theme, which runs October 14th through 17th. At their core, both works address the issue of personal and cultural identity, unraveling layers of the private and public selves.From Winnipeg, Freya Olafson offers her work AVATAR, which draws on the desire to document and share our lives, and thereby legitimize our existence in a virtual space. This piece is from a series of creative works, which according to Olafson’s website, “explore the methods of creating, validating and disseminating one’s identity through the use of technology and the internet.”Also on the roster is The Great Escape by Isobel Cohen from Great Britain.
