Follow Your Heart is a multidisciplinary spectacle that unites cultures through theatre, dance, live music and the most universal of stories – a love story.
The show features forty-five dancers onstage and brings together an equally impressive amount of collaborators behind the scenes. In this video made during the workshop process in 2014, Artistic Director of Evolution Dance Theatre, Armineh Keshishian, explains how she, a Christian raised in a Muslim country, came to create dance theatre that unites cultures. “One heartbeat, one culture, one race,” is her mantra.
Follow Your Heart runs September 22-25 at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts.
As a part of our series, Dance Criticism: Perceptions, challenges and the future, Grace Wells-Smith speaks to four Canadian dance critics about how dance criticism fits into the current fold.
Mississauga-based artist Colleen Snell is known for her highly theatrical and site-specific dance work, and her newest creation, Creature, will be no exception.
