Festival of African and Caribbean Culture

Behind the scene rehearsals. "FESTACC" Festival of African and Caribbean Culture. 2015/17

Founded by Nigerian dance educator, performer and choreographer Sani-Abu Mohammed Allen, Toronto’s ijo vudu Dance International is a company of professional dancers and drummers. This video of the company rehearsing gives a sense of the physicality and musicality that defines ijo vudu, which, in the traditional language of the Yoruba people, refers to the transcendent spirit in dance. On October 25, ijo vudu Dance launches FESTACC, the Festival of African and Caribbean Culture in Toronto. FESTACC celebrates the authenticity of African and Caribbean culture. Dance and drumming workshops are taught by teachers and companies from Burkina Faso, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda, Congo, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Jamaica and Barbados.
