Emmanuelle Le Phan aka bgirl Cleopatra DEMO REEL 2011

The July/August 2012 issue of The Dance Current print magazine includes an item on Emmanuelle Lê Phan and Elon Höglund.”The spring tour was with Montréal’s contemporary/hip hop company RUBBERBANDance Group, led by Victor Quijada, with whom [Emmanuelle Lê Phan and Elon Höglund have] worked for a number of years. As well, they’ve both performed with Cirque du Soleil and Cirque Eloize, and they’re each involved in their respective breakdancing crews in Montréal (Lê Phan with Legendary Crew and Höglund with Fresh Format). These two are rock stars in the dance world.” By Kate Stashko, The Dance Current: Print, July/August 2012. Partners Höglund and Lê Phan came from very different backgrounds. Scouted by Cirque du Soleil, Höglund moved to Canada from Stockholm with a background in martial arts (jiu-jutsu, karate, taekwondo, capoeira and kung fu) and a love for hip hop. Ottawa-born Lê Phan made the leap from contemporary dance into street dance (b-girling, house, popping, locking and new jack swing), and earned a BFA in dance at Concordia University before embarking on the same Cirque du Soleil show. This 2011 demo reel of Lê Phan (Bgirl Cleopatra aka Manoodles) highlights twelve years of b-girling with companies such as RUBBERBANDance Group, Cirque Eloize, Cirque Du Soleil, Solid State Breakdance Collective, Legendary Crew and Menage-a-Trois.Be sure to catch Lê Phan and Höglund performing their own choreographyBody to Body at Cirque du Soleil’s Les Chemins Invisibles, June 24th through September 3rd in Québec City.
