Just around the corner, Simon Fraser University (SFU) will present Dreamwalker Dance Company’s double Dora nominated Beside Each Other, October 26th and 27th. Artistic Director Andrea Nann accepted the invitation to fill the role of Iris Garland Visiting Choreographer at SFU during the month of October, and will also premiere of a new work for the School of Contemporary Arts student repertory dancers in November. Beside Each Other is a series of short duets for Nann and Brendan Wyatt, with original music and poetry by Gord Downie. The work captures the intimacy of Downie’s writing and solo albums Coke Machine Glow and Battle of the Nudes. According to the company’s website, the dance “explores the private landscape between two lovers as they tread through deep intimacy, heartache, restlessness, separation and transcendence into a harmonious love. Beautifully articulate and complex, paired on the same landscape, one near the other, their balance creates wholeness.”Be sure to check out the Summer 2006, Summer 2005 and October 2001 issues of The Dance Current print magazine for items on Andrea Nann.
