Daniel Léveillé Danse: Solitudes Solo

By Julye Huggins
Agora de la danse ::: Solitudes solo / Daniel Léveillé Danse

Coming up September 26th through 29th at Agora de la danse in Montréal, Daniel Léveillé Danse presents Solitudes Solo, a series of minimalist solos featuring dancers Justin Gionet, Emmanuel Proulx, Manuel Roque, Gaëtan Viau, and Lucie Vigneault. In counterpoint to the brisk music and a tide of frenzy, the dancers inscribe a gentle undercurrent. As described on the presenter’s website: “Five dancers with an imposing presence and impressive technical skills push the body into a corner, exploring solitude as virgin territory that reveals the depths of being … From under the impenetrable mask of each soloist emanates a tenderness that silently comes to the fore.”Be sure to check out the February 2004 issue of The Dance Current print magazine for an item on Daniel Léveillé.
