Dance World Cup Canada 2011: Santé D'Amours Fortunato

Beginning to crop up on YouTube are videos from Dance World Cup Canada 2011, which took place in Niagara Falls June 29th through July 3rd. As part of the Faculty Showcase Performance on the closing evening, Santé D’Amours Fortunato of Montréal presented her contortionist hoop act, joining the ranks in the Overall High Score Performance Awards.Fortunato is an accomplished competitor in dance and has recently graduated from the National Circus School, where she specialized in hula hoop, aerial hoop and contortion. Last year, Fortunato made it through to the top thirty girls in the finals for So You Think You Can Dance Canada. Her personal website further notes some of her top competitive achievements: “Before leaving for her new life in Montréal, Sante won the Gold Medal with her jazz solo at Dance World Cup, Portugal; overall high score for her hip hop solo at Surrey Festival, and overall high score for her acro solo at Canadian Nationals. Her modern and jazz solos were also selected to represent Canada at Worlds in Boston, and her hip hop was selected for Worlds in Germany. Santé was one of the top Rhythmic Gymnasts in BC, and was ranked 15th in Canada at the National Rhythmic Gymnastic Championships in 2006.”
