Yes Yes Y’all is a Toronto-based collective working to connect the city’s queer and hip hop communities through large dancehall parties. This video features one of said dance parties. People of different gender expressions dancing together highlights the party’s emphasis on queerness and community. Yes Yes Y’all will host a dance party as part of the Luminato Festival in collaboration with Dudebox, an event planner that donates proceeds from its parties to local charities.

Additionally, Sharing Spaces Productions will present A Study on Effort, a multidisciplinary performance by dancer Bobbi Jene Smith and musician Keir GoGwilt, at this year’s festival. Through music and movement, Smith and GoGwilt explore questions of physical, emotional and metaphoric effort. A video of A Study on Effort is available here

Luminato is an annual multi-arts festival in Toronto. Other dance events include The Holy Body Tattoo’s monumental and The Dietrich Group’s The Coating Project.
