Christopher House: Ahead of the Curve

The March/April 2012 issue of The Dance Current print magazine includes a feature on Christopher House. “Christopher House is one of Canada’s most respected dance artists. Born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland, he joined Toronto Dance Theatre (TDT) as a dancer in 1979, was named resident choreographer in 1981 and became artistic director in 1994.” By Brendan Healy, The Dance Current: Print, March/April 2012. If you’ve read the article and are still looking for more on this acclaimed choreographer, check out Ahead of the Curve (2007), a one-hour video documentary written and directed by Rosemary House (Christopher’s sister). The film, co-produced by Rick Rat Productions and Rock Island Productions, gives an in-depth look at House’s choreographic process and inspirations. And, this three-minute excerpt suggests that it promises to be chock-full of great dance footage. Ahead of the Curve was nominated for Best Direction and Best Editing at the 2008 Gemini Awards.
