The Chimera Project is in a flurry of activity in Toronto, first through its support of Fresh Blood (March 16th and 17th), which features works by emerging contemporary Canadian choreographers. Following this showcase, The Chimera Project takes to the stage with The Calm Before…, running March 19th through 25th.On a side note, the company also produced this trailer of its Bravo!FACT short film I’m Right Behind You in 2010. The film takes a biographical bent, based on the life of the company’s artistic director, Malgorzata Nowacka. According to the Vimeo notes, the work not only touches on her culture shock of moving to Canada from Poland, but also offers “an exploration of the major themes of her work” and “at the same time it’s a celebration of dance as an extension of personality and experience.” The film is directed by Jeffrey P. Nesker and features performers Nowacka, Brendan Wyatt, Amy Hampton, Tim Spronk and Brandy Leary.Be sure to check out the April 2009 issue of The Dance Current print magazine for an item on Malgorzata Nowacka.
