Cas Public: Gold

GOLD - Cas Public - 5

Last night at Agora de la danse in Montréal, Cas Public performed Gold, the latest creation from Artistic Director Hélène Blackburn and her longtime collaborator Pierre Lecours. A quartet for audiences aged four and up, Gold is a playful work set to Glenn Gould’s rendition of Bach’s Goldberg Variations. It marks the sixth show in the company’s youth series, which has been running since 2000. According to the company’s website, set designer Martin Bryson created for this work, “a denuded visual environment made up of small objects from the everyday lives of children” and “This apparently simple play area will become the theatre for a veritable confrontation between reality and illusion, a game of hide-and-seek between notions of nature and notions of culture.”
