By Julye Huggins
Monsieur Bossbottes

On November 13th the Montréal gumboot dance company Bourask presented its youth audience work Monsieur Bossbottes in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu. The show carries the imagination down into the mines where, in South Africa, gumboot is said to have originated. Three miners stir up the rhythm with their big rubber boots and the at hand, all while dealing with their clumsy and pain-in-the-neck boss, Monsieur Bossbottes. Created under the artistic direction of Sylvie Mercier, the work is performed by Juliette Dauplé, Fannie Gagnon, Méralie Murray-Hall and Karine Pion (with choreography by Gagnon, Mercier and Pion).Next up on the company’s upcoming shows, Squall will be hitting St. Damien on November 26th.
