Together with Josh Grossman, artistic director of Toronto Jazz Orchestra, and tap artist Ted Louis Levy, Allison Toffan has created a performance that explores the musical relationship between tap dancing and big band arrangements. The Big Band Tap Revue originally premiered in December 2014 at Lula Lounge in Toronto and is being remounted at Harbourfront Centre for two nights in November. The work aims to shed preconceived notions that tap dancing is a nostalgic art form and invites the audience to discover the intricate relationship between tap and music – forever relevant.
