Today kicks off the summer intensive professional training program Surrender to the Rhythm hosted by Ballet Creole in Toronto (August 7th through 17th). Along with studying repertory work, participants of the two-week workshop will focus on contemporary dance and modern dance forms with African roots, including Horton and Dunham techniques. This video from 2009 is a sneak peek at a Dunham class. The lineup of instructors include Patrick Parson (artistic director of Ballet Creole), Gabby Kamino (Etobicoke School for the Performing Arts), Debbie Wilson (artistic director of OMO Dance Company) and Jose Carret (artistic director of Danza Corpus in Matanzas, Cuba).
