Thunderstruck: Physical Landscapes

A peek inside a new exhibit

Curated by Jenn Goodwin, Thunderstruck: Physical Landscapes is a group exhibition featuring visual art, film, installation and contemporary dance. In her curatorial statement, Goodwin writes that the exhibit explores bodies, movement and dances within landscapes, as well as the body and dance as landscape.

Presented by the Canada Council for the Arts, the exhibition includes the remains from a live performance of Melting, Mourning and as Series of Impossible Tasks, choreographed by Brandy Leary and performed by Ess Hoedlmoser on June 20, 2018. The solo was performed on top of soil, tracing and leaving behind a map of Hoedlmoser’s movements.

The following artists are also featured: Shary Boyle, Francesca Chudnoff, Ella Cooper, Mario Côté, Aganetha Dyck, Brendan Fernandes, Angela Miracle Gladue, Deepti Gupta, La calq, Michelle Latimer, Tanya Lukin Linklater, Zab Maboungou, Lola MacLaughlin, Freya Björg Olafson, Omar Rivero (Driftnote), Tedd Robinson, Brian Solomon, Laura Taler, Rosanna Terracciano and Anne Troake.

Free to the public, Thunderstruck: Physical Landscapes is on display from June 20, 2018 through January 27, 2019 at Âjagemô, the exhibition space at the Canada Council for the Arts in Ottawa.
