Started in 1994 as a Peking Opera collective, then transformed into a professional dance company in 2007, the Little Pear Garden Dance Company is one of the most sought after dance troupes in Canada. The rich and diverse tapestry of Chinese dance vocabularies has inspired the company to create acclaimed and powerful body of work. Encompassing both classical and contemporary productions which have been warmly received by audience of all ages and cultures. For its new season, LPGDC presents Tales of China. The performance celebrates award winning dancer Emily Cheung’s 10 years as the company’s artistic director, featuring two repertoire pieces with stories of the East, showcasing folk dances from various parts of China. Classical Chinese dancer Xi Yi will perform his awarding winning Crane dance. Ms. Cheung will restage her signature solo: The Flying Apsara.
