The Vancouver International Dance Festival (VIDF) presents the return of the Japan-based butoh ensemble Dairakudakan, showcasing their latest work with the Canadian premiere of Pseudo human /Super human. The piece is intended as an exposition on the fragility of humanity’s pursuit of happiness and prosperity through technology, and is choreographed by Akaji Maro, the Company’s director. The performance features iron and glass stage installations by sculptor KUMA/Katsuyuki Shinohara, and is set to a score of techno music by Keisuke Doi and Jeff Mills.
