Coming off their exciting thirtieth-anniversary season, Ballet BC begins its next decade with a full evening of works by their resident choreographer, Cayetano Soto. The program features two Canadian premieres, Fugaz, a meditation on the death and illness of his father set to Armenian sacred song, and Sortijas, a duet set to the music of Lhasa de Sela. Soto is also creating two new works, one of which is inspired by Conrazoncorazon, a critically acclaimed work created in 2015 for the Theaterhaus Stuttgart/Gauthier Dance Company. “An astonishing architect of movement and space,” according to Artistic Director Emily Molnar, Soto demonstrates a masterful ability to create drama through music and lighting, paired with an eye for clean and powerful lines well-suited to this company. For more information, visit balletbc.com.

Ballet BC’s Program 1 is a performance highlight in the November/December issue.
