Peggy Baker dances solo “Portal”, joined by pianist John Kameel Farah; the hyper-kinetic Benjamin Kamino performs Baker’s 1996 work “Encoded Revision” set to score by Michael J. Baker; Andrea Nann dances Baker’s solo from 1995, “In a Landscape” to John Cage music of the same name; and Baker’s new work “Piano/Quartet” is danced by Ric Brown, Sean Ling, Sahara Morimoto and Andrea Nann to Cage’s “Sonatas and Interludes for prepared piano”.
While (thankfully) not a physicalized ode to quests for empirical knowledge, locus plot excels as a poetic transposition of chemistry in its humanist and even larger-than-life form, and the beginning of the full-length work illustrates this perfectly.
Drifting Up by Renata Soutter is one of four works that make up Aqueous by Propeller Dance, a company that specializes in integrated dance and inclusive training.
