Here at Breakin’ Convention we know the wealth of global hip hop talent that exists. We also recognise that there is a lack of high quality professional development opportunities available to our community. Breakin’ convention, Harbourfront Centre and Break it Down are proud to offer hip hop artists a unique opportunity to put their skills under the knife. Participants will work with British dance heavyweight Jonzi D for an exciting week of experimenting, devising and sharing. The course is designed at exploring new ways of approaching choreography, direction and staging. We aim to give you the means to approach theatre making from fresh and new angles without losing the essence of what you do.
Open Art Surgery is aimed at hip hop artists, crews or companies (dancers, emcees, spoken word artists, DJs, musicians and beatboxers).  Breakin’ Convention is committed to the elevation of hip hop dance theatre and believe this is a valuable opportunity for even the most experienced hip hop artist to learn some new skills, collaborate and get creative. No previous theatre experience is necessary but you should have a strong understanding and application of your specified hip hop discipline.
