Kosmos, choreographed by Andonis Foniadakis, finds inspiration in the world around us and the excitement people experience every day in a city; moments of reunion, gathering and let go. In Israeli choreographer Itzik Galili’s Mona Lisa, two dancers execute incredible acrobatics in a factory-like atmosphere filled with sounds and visions of iron and steel – a breathtaking pas de deux executed with absolute mastery. Balcão, also by Galili, is a hymn to escape, inspired by classic Cuban mambo. The result is a dynamic piece, infused with humorous touches, casual, sexy and full of beautiful madness.

The three pieces presented on a recent visit to Vancouver, part of BJM’s 40th anniversary season, showcase that range.
