New Dance Horizons presents a series of culturally engaged dance workshops that are designed to explore and share histories and practices of the traditional dances of the Canadian Métis people. Métis Jigging & Square Dancing for the whole community that will warm your heart, feet and spirit.
This special event will focus on First Nations Powwow dance and provide context to the history and relationship of Powwow and traditional Métis Dance.
Since its founding in 1986, New Dance Horizons has gained strength with each passing year. In 2002, it took its most ambitious step yet, organizing and presenting Stream of Dance, a three-day festival devoted to prairie dance.
Silent Survivors is the story of the Indian residential school experience told through song, traditional dance and creative expression.
