This homage is part of The Remembering Amelia Project, an educational project exploring and archiving the work of movement analyst and dance maverick Amelia Itcush (1945-2011). The Itcush Method theories and practices of dynamic posture have aided people from all walks of life to expand their human movement potential. In ode to Amelia, guest dance artist Claudia Moore will perform a solo dance work, Sylph(a), choreographed by Apolonia Velasquez and Ofilio Sinbadinho. Dancers and Mitzvah/Itcush Method teachers Ashley Johnson and Kana Nemoto will demonstrate the technical practise of small chair work to enhance a physical understanding of the elements of dance.
Since its founding in 1986, New Dance Horizons has gained strength with each passing year. In 2002, it took its most ambitious step yet, organizing and presenting Stream of Dance, a three-day festival devoted to prairie dance.
Tonight and tomorrow at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina, Montréal Danse will perform Sarah Chase’s On The Ice of Labrador.
