The debut work from Sappier, who hails from Tobique First Nation, is the story of a young Wolastoqiyik woman, performed by Aria Evans, who is awakened by the voices of her Ancestors. Finding Wolastoq Voice, which centres around themes of sorrow and hope, features choreography by Aria Evans, stage and lighting design by Andy Moro, direction by Thomas Morgan Jones, sound design by Michael Doherty and writing, visual motifs and music by Sappier. The work is presented by the National Arts Centre’s Mòshkamo which is the inaugural season of the first national Indigenous Theatre department.
