The 28th Annual Dancing on the Edge Festival pushes frontiers of contemporary dance, and will feature over thirty innovative choreographers and over eighty dance artists. Vancouver will host a convergence of Canada’s best dance artists and choreographers as part of this ten-day performance festival.
Highlights include: The Outliner: an evening of solos by Jennifer Mascall for MascallDance, the edges of things are ill defined by Julianne Chapple, Wags Alternate by Thoenn Glover, THUS SPOKE… by Frédérick Gravel and Étienne Lepage, Douce tourmente by Sylvie Desrosiers featuring Marc Boivin and Heidi Strauss.
Mini-reviews of works in Montréal’s Festival TranAmériques (FTA) - Gravel’s Some Hope for the Bastards, Roque’s bang bang and Salamon’s Monument 0: Haunted by the War (1913-2013). Part one of two of The Dance Current’s FTA 2017 coverage.
Digital Folk is part video game, part costume party and incorporates live music and dance. As an installation presented by Plastic Orchid Factory as part of Dance in Vancouver and DIY@DIV it was presented as a looping performance that took place on November 23 through 24 at Left of Main in Vancouver.
