D-Dance is a workshop that fuses education in multiple styles of dance with type one diabetes (T1D). D-Dance’s goal is to support T1D’s who have a passion for dance to continue dancing while facing the challenges T1D can present. The D-Dance staff come from a variety of dance and fitness backgrounds, which allows them to offer classes in anything from hip hop, to ballet, to jazz, or pilates, depending on the staff attending. This workshop will feature Hip Hop with Caddy Superville, Contemporary with Dr. Deanna Paolantonio, and Pilates and Dance Therapy with Brittany-Brie D’Amico. The workshop is for dancers aged 7 to 18 and includes education for families as well. NOTE: This is a workshop devoted to T1D, however, it is not mandatory that all participants be diabetic. D-Dance welcomes siblings or friends of T1D’s to attend as they may learn important information about helping their loved one deal with their diabetes. Visit D-Dance’s website to find out more information, or email ddancinc@gmail.com.
