Brotherhood: The Hip Hopera is a one-man show written and performed by Toronto-based performer Sébastien Heins and directed by Karin Randoja. The show uses original music and physical theatre to tell the parodied story of two brothers living the hip hop life, set in the 1970’s and fast-forwarded to the future. Heins uses hip hop and R&B, rap, soul, funk, and gospel in the performance of theatre and dance. The critically-acclaimed work began its development when Heins was a student at the National Theatre School of Canada and quickly developed into a full-length show. It has toured internationally and won the Best Emerging Artist award from the United Solo Festival in New York City, the largest solo show festival in the world.
