Julye Huggins

Julye Huggins is a creative “think-tank”, doer-of-many-things, wannabe dance artist, originally from Sudbury, Ontario. She is a Certified Movement Analyst and is currently pursuing a PhD in dance studies at York University. 

Starting in September 2009, Julye contributed daily video content to The Dance Current, researching and writing about a broad range of Canadian dance activities. Formerly hosted at dancepassport.ca (2008-2013), the video blog boasted over 1100 pieces in five years, championing an ever-inclusive scope of “Dance in Canada”. Julye was Video Blogger for The Dance Current from September 2009 through June 2013.

Danse Lhasa Danse

PPS Danse is about to embark on tour with Danse Lhasa Danse, a creation by Pierre-Paul Savoie that pays homage to singer Lhasa De Sela.

Sharing Dance

Just last week on June 5th, Canada’s National Ballet School collaborated with its community members and partners Beaumonde Heights Junior Public School and John Ross Robertson Junior Public School to celebrate National Aboriginal History Month.

Red Sky Performance

Running June 4th and 5th in Saskatoon, Red Sky Performance presents The Great Mountain, an eco-adventure story for youth audiences blending theatre and dance, with choreography by Carlos Rivera and Sandra Laronde.

Marina and Ulay

Performance artist Marina Abramović met performance artist Ulay (Uwe Laysiepen) in 1976, launching an intense love story and creative collaboration that ran through the 1980s. They re-connected on the last day of Abramović’s The Artist is Present in 2010. Abramović is a featured performer at this year’s Luminato Festival running June 14 - 23 in Toronto.

Toronto Tango Festival

Toronto Tango Festival is about to hit the floor, June 6th through 9th, featuring four internationally renowned teaching couples, including Kara Wenham & Javier Antar, Nick Jones & Diana Cruzhttps, Ney Melo & Jennifer Bratt, and Carol Horowitz & Julio Otero.

Evolution of BBoying

Choreographer/dancer and Bboyizm founder Yvon Soglo (aka Crazy Smooth) brings the interactive show Evolution of BBoying (from the 70s to present day) to the Ottawa Children’s Festival, May 29th through June 2nd.

Momentum Dance Toronto
