Julye Huggins


Julye Huggins is a creative “think-tank”, doer-of-many-things, wannabe dance artist, originally from Sudbury, Ontario. She is a Certified Movement Analyst and is currently pursuing a PhD in dance studies at York University. 

Starting in September 2009, Julye contributed daily video content to The Dance Current, researching and writing about a broad range of Canadian dance activities. Formerly hosted at dancepassport.ca (2008-2013), the video blog boasted over 1100 pieces in five years, championing an ever-inclusive scope of “Dance in Canada”. Julye was Video Blogger for The Dance Current from September 2009 through June 2013.

Feats Festival of Dance

Running July 1st through 14th in Edmonton, the Feats Festival of Dance is a multi-disciplinary dance event celebrating Canadian talent and the Alberta dance community, presenting everything from traditional folk dance to edgy contemporary movement works

Alex Wong

Canadian dancer Alex Wong has joined forces with NRG danceProject and will be traveling and teaching across the USA throughout 2014.

Centro Flamenco

Coming up June 29th, Centro Flamenco in Vancouver is having their year-end performance: Sirocco. Southern Wind.

Pratibha Arts

Through her organization Pratibha Arts, Bageshree Vaze has launched a multi-disciplinary arts series at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto called Spectrum, which are highlighted as part of the Canada Day weekend celebrations.


Hoopurbia, led by Canadian choreographer and dancer Rebecca Halls (now based in Berlin), is headed to Prague June 26th through 30th. The event promises live musicians, performances, parties, jams and workshops in hoop, yoga, dance and pilates.

Aeriosa Dance Society

Coming up June 21 and 22, the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts in Burnaby presents Aeriosa Dance Society, an all female cast of aerialists lead by artistic director and choreographer Julia Taffe. From earth to sky, Being lifts the dancers high above in a dreamy imagination of dancing together in outer space.

Mark Morris

The Mark Morris Dance Group presents L’Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato June 21 - June 23 at Toronto’s Luminato Festival.

Tziporah Productions

Running June 19 through 22 in Toronto, Tziporah Productions presents the space between us, an interdisciplinary work of movement, music, and theatre, with choreography by Aviva Fleising.

Motion Activated

Motion Activated (video excerpt between 2:25-4:45) is running June 7th through July 28th in Halifax, with live performance dates on June 8, July 18 and July 26.
