Anastasia Kolotova began her movement education in rhythmic gymnastics. After competing for seven years, she retired after achieving the status of seventh in Canada at the Junior Level. She continued to harness her passion in performing through dance training with and competing for studios such as Performing Dance Arts and Art & Soul Dance Company. Anastasia is a student at The University of Western Ontario inn the Faculty of Information and Media Studies, and it minoring in dance. Outside of her studies she can be found performing with the D’air Dance Collective.

On June 2, Canada’s National Ballet School’s (NBS) hosted Sharing Dance Day at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto. The annual event is NBS’s flagship community outreach initiative, which offers free dance programs to the public. Toronto was just one out of the five cities to host official Sharing Dance events, with other cities including Halifax, Montreal, Winnipeg and Calgary. As part of the event The Dance Current asked attendees to tell us about a dance-related topic or artist they’re interested in learning more about.
